The Manitoba Cooperator, did an online piece about Kyle Machan and the skateboard park. Kyle Machan is an excellent example of what our young people can be if given the right encouragement. He's done what other people only talk about - he's brought something positive to the town. Instead of sitting around moaning about how Swan River has nothing, he created something.

There's more to this than just a nice story though. I mean you could read it and just think, "Oh, that's nice." But really, why stop there?
Why not think about what you want from Swan Valley? And how you could get it?
I mean really, there are lots of people who have done that. Swan River has quite a bit actually for a small community. We have a massive Rec Centre (I'll had admit it's not perfect but it's there), a skateboard park, two gorgeous walking parks, the Metis Friendship Centre...
...what's missing?
Only you, the people can say what's missing. And if you know you have two choices - you can sit there and moan about it or you can come up with a solution and make it happen.
What do you want for Swan River? Figure it out and make it happen because so far, complaining about it hasn't really done much has it.
